Carpentry and Wood Work

Two Female Inmates Making Home AccessoriesThe carpentry and wood work shop is another skill activity which aims to provide rehabilitation to the prison inmates. To strengthen and add value to this carpentry industry the Youth Development Division has partnered with the Prison Service and has provided certificate courses under this programme.

Furniture making and repairs, tables, chairs, cupboards and beds are among items made under this programme.

The making of crafts from wood is also a very wide area here at the Prison. Inmates make draught boards and picture frames just to name a few.

The female inmates at the prison are also engaged in farming and creative craft making. They make beautifully handmade chair backs, dolls, doll dresses, table napkins and lots of decorative accessories for homes and offices.
